Shibli No’mani’s Seeratun Nabi is a renowned Urdu book focusing on the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Originally planned as a detailed multi-volume work, Shibli could only complete two volumes due to ill health. His disciple, Syed Sulaiman Nadvi, took over and completed the remaining five volumes.
The book covers various aspects of the Prophet’s life, teachings, and historical background. Despite some critics pointing out flaws, the scholarly community lauds Shibli’s efforts in meticulously documenting and highlighting the Prophet’s life and rejecting misconceptions propagated by Western scholars.
The volumes delve into the Prophet’s physical appearance, moral practices, family life, and the core beliefs of Islam. Sulaiman Nadvi’s contributions further elaborate on Islamic teachings, worships, moral values, and societal obligations.
With six volumes exploring different facets of Prophet Muhammad’s life and Islam, Seeratun Nabi stands as an encyclopedia of knowledge. Nadvi’s completion of the work showcases his prowess in Islamic studies, continuing Shibli’s legacy.
