Despite being considered a front-runner for the presidential nomination, his political acumen is still being scrutinized by his party members.
While Han has been trying to overcome the limitations of being an ‘outsider party leader’ by expanding his interactions with party lawmakers, his ability to connect with them has not been very prominent. Since the party congress two months ago, Han has mainly focused on engaging with lawmakers who were part of the ‘Team Han Dong-hoon’ Telegram group during the congress. This approach has left some party members questioning his ability to deal with pressing issues effectively.
Moreover, despite Han’s promise to pursue a special prosecutor recommended by a third party, the progress on this issue has been sluggish, leading to disappointment among some party members.
