Krnov in the Czech Republic almost completely under water

The Czech town of Krnov has been almost completely flooded due to heavy rainfall, with an estimated 70% to 80% of the town submerged. The Opava and Opavice rivers meeting in Krnov have exacerbated the situation, leaving the town in a dire state.

Efforts to evacuate the inhabitants of Krnov are too late, making the situation worse than in the 1997 flood disaster. Helicopters were deployed to rescue those in distress from the air, while other parts of the Czech Republic, like Opava and Ostrava, were also facing critical flood situations.

Czech President Petr Pavel has made an appeal for donations to aid flood victims in the worst-affected regions. Urgent financial aid is being considered as the government prepares to meet in Prague to address the crisis.

River overflows, flooding streets and homes in Vienna

Vienna witnessed river overflow as the water level of the Wien River rose significantly, causing flooding in the streets and homes along its banks. The suburb of Penzing was also affected, leading to evacuations, flooded streets, and an underground parking garage.

Electricity disruptions occurred in three Vienna districts, with subway lines partially closed. Efforts were ongoing to restore services and manage the flooding situation caused by the rising water levels.
