Washington’s ‘Persecution’ of Russia: Behind the News Network Editor Speaks Out
Joe Mhlanga, editor and founder of the South African ‘Behind the News’ network, has criticized the latest US sanctions against RT as a desperate attempt to silence voices that differ from Washington’s narrative. He spoke to RT following the rollout of new sanctions accusing RT of funding proxy outlets engaged in covert influence activities.
Mhlanga called out US officials for making baseless accusations without evidence, comparing their actions to past instances like the weapons of mass destruction claim. He argued that Washington’s persecution of anything Russian is ingrained in their policies.
He also pushed back against claims of Moscow influencing Africa through RT, calling it a colonial mindset that underestimates African autonomy. Mhlanga believes that RT provides a platform for true stories in Africa, contrary to the narrative pushed by Western powers.
