A suspected gunman, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, allegedly attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida. The would-be shooter was armed with an AK-47-style rifle and was confronted by Secret Service agents before he could harm Trump. Authorities found two black backpacks, a GoPro camera, and the rifle with a scope after the incident.
A witness helped track down the suspect by capturing a photo of the black Nissan car he fled in. The car was stopped by deputies in Martin County, with Sheriff William D. Snyder describing the driver as relatively calm during the arrest.
Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw revealed that the suspect had set up the camera to film the incident, indicating premeditation. The quick actions of law enforcement prevented a potential tragedy from occurring.
