Ruling SPLM Party Forms Women Leagues in Western Equatoria State
The ruling SPLM party in South Sudan has taken a significant step towards empowering women by forming women leagues in greater Magwi County of Western Equatoria State. The leagues, with secretariats in Magwi, Pageri, and Nimule town councils, aim to ensure the equitable representation of women in the government.
Hellen Orasio, the Eastern Equatoria State league chairperson, emphasized the importance of active participation and advised the members to work together and speak up if they see the party straying from its values. Nimule league chairperson, Gloria Medina Limpio, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in her and promised to promote the party in bordering towns.
Magwi County Commissioner, Pole Pole Benjamin Olum, highlighted the crucial role women play in society as agents of peace. He commended the commitment of the women to the party and encouraged them to continue attending meetings and actively participating in party activities.
