The Defense Ministry of Greece is moving forward with plans to procure Switchblade-type roving ammunition for the Special Warfare Command, with approval from Parliament expected soon. The US Switchblade ammunition will be utilized by Special Warfare Command members, who have adapted their operations based on the lessons learned from recent conflicts, notably the Ukraine conflict. The total cost of the procurement is US$75 million, with the US covering US$50 million and Greece contributing the remaining US$25 million.
In addition, a package of military equipment assistance for Ukraine will also be presented to Parliament for approval. The US plans to purchase rockets for launchers and anti-tank mines from Greece to support Ukraine’s defense efforts. Requests for artillery shells and short-range anti-aircraft systems from Ukraine are on the rise, with Greece already providing some of these weapons.
Greece’s collaboration with the US and other countries in supplying military equipment showcases its commitment to supporting Ukraine in its defense efforts. The partnership highlights the important role that Greece plays in regional security and defense cooperation.
