Palestinians rebuilding lives in Morocco: Meet them

Naser, a young Palestinian woman from Gaza, has come to Morocco to rebuild her life, like many other Palestinians.

At a World Refugee Day event hosted by UNHCR, Naser proudly proclaimed her origins from Gaza, garnering applause from the audience.

Over the years, many Palestinian refugees have settled in Morocco, each facing their own triumphs and challenges shared with The New Arab.

Naser’s journey involved leaving her family and friends in Gaza, not seeing them for almost 14 years.

Upon arriving in Rabat, Naser pursued a Law degree in French, transitioning from a different English Master’s, and is now in her second year of a PhD with fluent French.

Naser also made strides in the Orient-Occident Foundation, supporting refugees, and growing her Palestinian embroidery business.

Despite feeling at home in Morocco, Naser cherishes her memories in Palestine and stays connected with her family through video calls.

Maintaining hope and faith, Naser’s parents remain in Palestine, refusing to leave their homeland.

Despite the challenges, Naser’s resilience and determination serve as an inspiration to all those facing displacement and adversity.
