The termination of the Lockheed Martin Seed Fund was announced on Saturday, with activists citing concerns over the defense giant’s sales of military equipment to Israel.
The group criticized Lockheed Martin for supplying weapons used to target schools, hospitals, and infrastructure in Gaza, resulting in the deaths of thousands of Palestinians. They also condemned the company for enabling the Israeli government to establish detention facilities and impose apartheid in the occupied West Bank.
The activists vowed to continue their efforts to end MIT’s collaborations with Israeli defense companies and partnerships with companies transporting weapons for Israel’s military. The protests come amid intensified calls for divestment from Israel in response to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, with pro-Israel governments cracking down on demonstrations under accusations of “anti-Semitism” and “terrorism.”
