Yemeni Missile Strike Hits Central Israel
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that a missile launched from Yemen hit central Israel on Sunday. The Houthi group, controlling northern Yemen, claimed responsibility for the attack.
The missile entered Israeli airspace from the east and landed in an open area with no casualties. Israel’s interceptors were deployed to counter the threat.
Sirens blared from Tel Aviv to Modiin as the missile strike unfolded. The aftermath included a fire in Ben Shemen forest and damage to a train station in Modiin.
The Houthi spokesperson confirmed the attack using a “new hypersonic ballistic missile.” The group had been targeting Israeli territory as a response to Gaza Strip strikes.
Despite warnings from the Houthi group, Israel remains on high alert for further attacks leading up to the anniversary of the October 7 incident.
With tensions escalating, the situation in the region remains precarious as both sides brace for potential retaliatory strikes.
