Gaza-based bloggers are sharing a new perspective on life during the war, highlighting the recent influx of food items, such as meat and eggs, into the enclave — a rare occurrence in the past.
Maher Haboush, a blogger and fitness coach, joyfully showcased a bag of meat in a video, exclaiming, “After over 10 months, I have meat,” as he roamed the streets of Gaza City. Similarly, northern Gaza residents marveled at the sight of meat skewers in a local restaurant, a delicacy they hadn’t seen in a year.
UNRWA agencies initiated the distribution of meat, chicken, eggs, and vegetables based on family size, with the recent resumption of aid deliveries after a temporary halt. Hassan Raslan, a Gaza resident, detailed his experience of unexpectedly receiving chicken and lamb meat, emphasizing the scarcity and value of these items in the current market.
In addition to the food supply, personal hygiene products have entered the local market, prompting a significant drop in prices. However, concerns arise about the unequal distribution of aid, with claims that certain groups benefit more than others.
Despite efforts from various aid organizations, challenges persist in ensuring fair and equitable access to essential resources for all Gaza residents.
