The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) is taking a step towards enhancing the drainage infrastructure around the old Parliament building by inviting bids for mapping the drainage system. Last month, waterlogging in the Parliament complex due to heavy rain raised concerns among some opposition leaders. The CPWD’s tender document specifies a topographical survey, ground penetration radar survey, vertical electrical resistivity test, and robotic survey inside and outside Samvidhan Sadan.
The last date to submit bids is September 23, with an estimated cost of around Rs 16.83 lakh. The topographical survey will include various details like boundaries, features, footprints of buildings, and more. The GPR survey will help in detecting and mapping underground utilities like sewer lines and water supply pipes. This initiative aims to improve the drainage system and address the waterlogging issues effectively in the complex.
This move by the CPWD showcases a proactive approach towards infrastructure development and maintenance in the historical Parliament complex.
