**National Assembly Session on Constitutional Package Delayed**

A flurry of meetings on a Sunday in Islamabad, including one at JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence, led to the delayed start of a National Assembly session focusing on a controversial ‘constitutional package’. The session was adjourned just after starting, with PML-N MNA Bilal Kayani moving to suspend certain rules in respect of upcoming sessions.

Key meetings included PM Shehbaz’s discussions with Nawaz Sharif, the government and PTI delegations meeting Fazlur Rehman, and FM Dar’s meeting with MQM leaders. The session was originally set for 11:30am, then delayed to 4pm, and finally started after 11pm due to ongoing meetings.

The package includes amendments such as fixing the CJP’s tenure at three years. Amidst delays, government spokesperson Barrister Aqeel Malik cited the need to develop consensus. PML-N leader Khawaja Asif was confident about securing the necessary votes.

PTI chairman Barrister Gohar accused the government of attacking the judiciary, while PTI MNA Ali Muhammad Khan criticized the lack of transparency around the proposed legislation. The package’s introduction was delayed for ‘strategic reasons’, with details remaining elusive.
