US and Iraqi Forces Eliminate 14 ISIS Terrorists in Joint Operation
US Central Command (CENTCOM) has reported a successful joint operation with Iraqi forces in western Iraq, resulting in the elimination of 14 ISIS terrorists on August 29. The targeted operation focused on weakening ISIS’s ability to plan and execute attacks on Iraqi civilians, Americans, and their allies in the region.
During the assessment following the raid, CENTCOM confirmed the deaths of four key ISIS leaders: Shakir Abud Ahmad Al-Issawi, Abu Hammam, Abu-Ali Al-Tunisi, and Ahmad Hamid Husayn Abd-Al-Jalil Al-Ithawi. General Michael Erik Kurilla emphasized CENTCOM’s commitment to defeating ISIS to protect the US, its allies, and regional stability.
Equipped with grenades and suicide belts, ISIS fighters showed no regard for civilian lives. CENTCOM assured no civilian casualties occurred during the operation. The continuous collaboration between CENTCOM, the coalition, and Iraqi allies aims to eradicate any remaining ISIS threat in the region.
In 2014, ISIS seized control of vast areas in Iraq and Syria before facing defeat in 2017. Although Iraq declared liberation from ISIS in late 2017, security operations persist to eliminate any resurfacing threats.
