Accusations included RT funding proxy outlets for covert influence in various countries. The Global Engagement Center aims to counter RT’s influence worldwide, with a focus on Ukraine. The GEC has funded propaganda games and pressured Twitter to censor pro-Russian content.
RT’s response to the accusations was a sarcastic remark about broadcasting from KGB headquarters. The leaked State Department announcement drew a witty reaction from RT, mocking the US government’s ongoing allegations.
