Experts in US-China relations are pushing for a semi-official dialogue mechanism to navigate the complexities between the two countries. This proposal comes as Beijing concludes its annual Xiangshan Forum, where US-China tensions took center stage.
A panel of experts gathered at the Beijing International Convention Centre to address the critical US-China relationship. Wu Xinbo from Fudan University suggested a “Track 1.5” framework, advocating for a joint committee of scholars, experts, and former officials to support high-level military talks.
During the session themed “The right way for China and the US to get along,” Wu emphasized the need to mobilize positive forces from both societies towards a common goal. The discussions emphasized the importance of finding constructive ways to manage the relationship effectively.
