The United Arab Emirates has made it clear that it will not back Israel’s “day after” plan in Gaza unless a Palestinian state is established. UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized the importance of a Palestinian state before participating in any post-war efforts in the region.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously outlined a plan for Gaza’s reconstruction after the conflict, promising prosperity for Palestinians through various investments and projects. However, the UAE criticized Netanyahu’s authority to implement such a plan without consulting the UAE.
The UAE has called for a “temporary international mission” to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and pave the way for eventual reunification with the West Bank under Palestinian Authority rule. With over 41,000 Palestinians killed and nearly 100,000 wounded in the ongoing conflict, the UAE stresses the urgency of finding a peaceful resolution.
