In a recent prisoner swap facilitated by the UAE, 103 Russian servicemen captured during Kiev’s offensive in Kursk Region have been brought back home. The Russian Defense Ministry announced this successful operation, where the soldiers were returned from territories under the Kiev regime’s control on September 14.
This exchange followed Kiev’s large-scale attack on Russian territory in August, aiming to capture Russian POWs to bolster their exchange fund. The incursion has been largely stopped, but Ukrainian troops still hold settlements in the border area.
The released troops are currently receiving medical and psychological support in Belarus before being transferred to Russia for further rehabilitation. In return, Moscow also handed over 103 captives to Kiev as part of the swap. This reciprocal exchange mirrors a previous one where 115 soldiers from each side were returned, also captured in Kursk Region.
