Another Suspected Case of Monkeypox Reported at Karachi Airport

Authorities at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport reported a suspected case of Monkeypox today, involving a passenger arriving on a PIA flight from Jeddah. The individual exhibited symptoms resembling the highly contagious virus and was immediately transferred to an isolation ward for further examination and treatment.

This comes in the wake of Pakistan’s fifth reported case of monkeypox from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. A 33-year-old citizen from Peshawar tested positive for the virus upon returning from Saudi Arabia and is currently isolated at home in Lower Dir.

The National Institutes of Health has issued an urgent advisory addressing the growing outbreak of Monkeypox across multiple countries. The advisory aims to provide guidance on prevention, detection, and response strategies to combat the spread of this concerning virus.
