LP to skip council polls in Anambra East

The Labour Party (LP) in Anambra East Local Government Area (LGA) has taken a bold stand in refusing to participate in the upcoming local government elections scheduled for September 28th. The party’s Chairman and Secretary, Mr. Chidi Chinwuba and Mr. Onyeka Aghadiuno, issued a statement expressing their dissatisfaction with the published list of candidates by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).

The party clarified that they did not nominate any candidates nor did they conduct any primaries for the elections. They have threatened to take legal action against the commission if they continue to list LP candidates for the polls in the area.

LP Anambra East Chapter has made it clear that they will not be participating in the elections and have urged the public to disregard any list published by ANSIEC that includes LP candidates. The party believes that the election process has been compromised and that their inclusion on the list is a ploy by mischief makers to deceive the citizens.

The party has already taken the matter to court and has vowed not to be part of a flawed electoral system. With their stand against the election, LP aims to maintain integrity and uphold transparency in the political process for the benefit of Anambra State.
