Iran Achieves Milestone with Successful Launch of Chamran 1 Research Satellite
In a significant advancement for Iran’s space program, the country has successfully placed the domestically-developed Chamran 1 research satellite into orbit. Launched on a Qaem-100 space launch vehicle, the satellite now orbits at an impressive altitude of 550 kilometers above Earth’s surface. Developed by the Aerospace Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, the three-stage SLV marks a significant achievement for Iranian technology.
Weighing 60 kilograms, the primary goal of the Chamran 1 satellite is to validate orbital maneuver technology while also evaluating cold gas propulsion subsystems and navigation systems performance. Iran’s space program continues to make notable progress despite Western sanctions, placing the country among the top 10 nations in satellite development and deployment.
Earlier successes include the launch of the Mahda research satellite and the Soraya satellite, showcasing Iran’s capabilities in space technology. With ongoing advancements, Iran solidifies its position as a notable player in the global space arena.
