Iran denies targeting critics abroad – Politics news

The Permanent Mission of Iran to the United Nations in New York strongly refuted allegations of carrying out targeted killings or abductions of critics abroad, labeling them as baseless fabrications. In a statement released on Thursday, the mission emphasized that Iran has no plans to engage in such actions, whether in Western countries or elsewhere.

The mission pointed fingers at the Zionist regime, the Mujahedin-e Khalq terror group based in Albania, and certain Western intelligence agencies, including those of the United States, for spreading these false claims to divert attention from the Israeli regime’s atrocities.

This response comes in the wake of the US Justice Department’s announcement charging a Pakistani man, Asif Raza Merchant, for allegedly planning to assassinate a US official in retaliation for the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in 2020. FBI Director Christopher Wray asserted that the suspect had strong ties to Iran.
