Former Delta Force officer on decision: Hostages or Hamas?

Published by

The conflict between Israel and Hamas has become a complex and challenging issue with differing opinions on how to resolve it. Recently, a delegation of foreign military officials from key countries visited Israel to gain insight into the situation firsthand. Led by the European Leadership Network (ELNET), the group, comprising veterans of conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Bosnia, observed Israel’s military operations and the challenges it faces.

Former British Commander Col. Richard Kemp described the war as the most intricate battlefield due to Gaza’s dense population and Hamas’ extensive preparations. The delegation also visited Gaza, witnessing the devastation and Hamas’ tunnels firsthand.

Meanwhile, tensions on Israel’s northern border with Hezbollah pose additional challenges. The delegation highlighted the urgency of addressing the hostage situation in Gaza and the need for a strategy to defeat Hamas and save the hostages.

However, the delegation expressed disappointment over the UK’s decision to limit arms sales to Israel, citing unproven allegations of war crimes. This move was criticized as performative and damaging to international relations.

Overall, the visit aimed to provide foreign military experts with a deeper understanding of the conflict and its complexities, with the hope that they would share their insights upon their return.
