The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) recently conducted a successful operation in Dera Ghazi Khan, resulting in the elimination of two terrorists. The operation was carried out after receiving information about the presence of terrorists on Quetta Road. During the exchange of gunfire, two terrorists were killed by their own accomplices while the others managed to escape. The CTD recovered explosives, rifles, bullets, and a hand grenade from the militants’ hideouts, foiling their plans to target important installations in the province.
In the past month, CTD Punjab has arrested 33 suspected terrorists in various intelligence-based operations. With the rise in terrorist attacks in Pakistan, the government designated the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as ‘Fitna al Khawarij’ and mandated all institutions to use the term ‘Khariji’ for terrorist perpetrators.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended CTD Punjab for their efforts in thwarting terrorist activities and destroying the evil ambitions of ‘Fitna al Khawarij’. He praised the department for their professional handling of the operation and emphasized that CTD Punjab is the vanguard in combating terrorism effectively.
