Chilean Air Force Continues Investigation into Alleged Aircraft Intrusion
Chile’s Deputy Defense Minister Ricardo Montero revealed that the Chilean Air Force (FACh) is still investigating the alleged intrusion of unidentified aircraft near the Strait of Magellan on August 27. Montero emphasized the importance of waiting for the probe’s outcome and avoiding premature conclusions.
After sending F-5 fighter jets to investigate the radar sighting, no intruder was found in the area. Despite speculation linking the incident to Argentina, Buenos Aires denied any knowledge of the event. Montero also addressed an Argentine military drill controversy, highlighting the ongoing defense cooperation between the two countries.
Defense Minister Maya Fernández praised FACh’s response in defending Chile’s sovereignty. The investigation into the aircraft intrusion is ongoing, emphasizing the importance of maintaining caution and waiting for official conclusions.
