Wang Yi, director of China’s Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, urged BRICS countries to discuss cooperation avenues and seek strategies for peace at the 14th meeting of high-ranking officials responsible for security matters in St. Petersburg.
Wang emphasized the importance of collaboration in the face of global turbulence and security threats, praising BRICS for its role in promoting peace and development through cooperation over the past 18 years.
He called for maximizing the influence of BRICS in international affairs by upholding independence, solidarity, and common development. Wang highlighted the need for strategic coordination and dialogue among members to safeguard sovereignty, security, and interests while contributing to world peace.
Participants at the meeting lauded BRICS’ achievements and stressed the importance of unity against unilateralism to uphold international law. Wang also engaged in dialogues with Global South countries and held bilateral meetings to address pressing global security issues.
