The Russian Navy showcased the power of its Admiral Gorshkov-class frigates during the Ocean-2024 drills, as reported by the Defense Ministry. The live-fire exercise featured the Admiral Kasatonov and the Admiral Golovko, firing A-192M 130mm naval guns at a target 10km away, demonstrating their combat capabilities.
Commissioned in 2018 and 2020 respectively, these frigates are designed for anti-submarine warfare, escort missions, and long-range strikes. Equipped with vertical launch systems compatible with the deadly Zircon hypersonic cruise missile, these vessels are hailed as effective anti-ship assets.
The Ocean-2024 drills, the largest in three decades, will continue until September 16, covering multiple oceans and seas. With rising geopolitical tensions, President Vladimir Putin emphasized the Navy’s crucial role in defending the country against threats.
