Russia will not tolerate the activities of undeclared officers of British secret services on its territory, according to Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova. In a recent commentary, Zakharova emphasized Moscow’s uncompromising stance on the issue for national security interests.
She also stated that Russia will continue to respond firmly and proportionately to any unfriendly actions by London. The Russian Foreign Ministry shares the Federal Security Service’s concerns about British diplomats’ activities, accusing them of subversive actions.
Zakharova highlighted a recent retaliatory measure taken by Russia in response to the UK’s decision to limit the accreditation of Russian diplomats in London. In August, the accreditation of six British embassy staff members in Moscow was terminated due to their activities breaching diplomatic boundaries.
Warning London that any unfriendly actions would not go unanswered, Zakharova urged the British side to refrain from harmful activities on Russian soil. The ongoing diplomatic tensions between Russia and the UK continue to escalate with retaliatory measures from both sides.
