Poland Prepares for Severe Flooding: Military and Emergency Services Ready for Action
Poland is bracing for intense rainfall, with the military and emergency services on high alert and fully mobilized. The Ministry of National Defence has deployed all available resources in anticipation of heavy rain in southern and western regions.
Forecasted Heavy Rainfall
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management warns of up to 150 liters of rain per square meter from Thursday to Sunday in several regions. The warning level is at its highest, with the Kłodzko Valley expected to be the hardest hit.
Government and Local Response
The Defense Minister has confirmed that the military is well-equipped to respond with boats, amphibians, and other necessary tools. Local authorities and emergency services have already carried out over 40 interventions in response to ongoing rain. While the situation is being compared to the 1997 “thousand-year flood,” current conditions are less severe due to the prolonged period of rainfall.
