The Palestinian Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs issued a warning against escalating Israeli incitement towards Al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s third holiest site. This caution came in response to a video released by the extremist group “Temple Mount Activists,” showing the mosque in flames with captions suggesting imminent destruction.
The ministry noted an increase in hostility and threats towards Islamic holy sites, labeling them as more dangerous than ever. It blamed the Israeli government for providing support to these extremists, enabling their frequent incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Calling for international intervention, the ministry urged global leaders to stop these provocations fueled by the Israeli government. It also encouraged Jerusalem residents to protect the mosque against extremist agendas.
The video by “Temple Mount Activists” revealed a fire near the Dome of the Rock, advocating for a temple to replace Al-Aqsa Mosque. Israeli ministers have also faced criticism for visiting the mosque and pushing for Jewish prayer rights within its walls.
With rising tensions and provocative acts by Israeli extremists, Palestinians stress the importance of preserving Al-Aqsa Mosque’s Arab and Islamic identity in East Al-Quds, their future capital.
