Pakistan’s remarkable achievement in being ranked in Tier 1 of the Global Cybersecurity Index 2024 report was celebrated by State Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja. This prestigious position, alongside countries such as the United States and Japan, highlights Pakistan’s significant progress in legal, technical, and capacity development fields. Khawaja emphasized the collective efforts of various departments, including the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, in achieving this milestone.

Khawaja also praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his unwavering support and keen interest in advancing Pakistan’s cybersecurity infrastructure. She noted the role of policies in this success and highlighted measures by the Ministry of Information Technology, such as training youth in cybersecurity. Additionally, she revealed Google’s investment in Pakistan and plans to manufacture Chromebooks, as well as the upcoming ‘Model Digital City’ initiative in Islamabad.

This revolutionary project aims to provide residents with access to over 150 government services through a new app, including services from the Capital Development Authority and Islamabad Police, enhancing the city’s digital transformation.
