The Lagos State Government has announced the temporary closure and diversion of traffic on Eko Bridge for emergency repairs by the Federal Ministry of Works. The closure is set to begin on September 16 and will last for 8 weeks, with the bridge reopening in the second week of November.
According to the State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the repairs will be carried out in four phases, necessitating intermittent full or partial closures of the bridge. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during this period to minimize travel delays and inconvenience.
Travel Advisory Released
Alternative routes suggested include using the service lane at Alaka to access Costain for those heading to the Island from Funsho Williams Avenue. Motorists can also use Apongbon to connect Eko Bridge or link Costain for their journeys. Those headed to Surulere can opt for routes through Breweries to reach their destinations.
