North Korean leader Kim Jong Un recently visited a nuclear facility to bolster the country’s nuclear capabilities amid increasing threats from Washington and its allies. This visit follows North Korea’s launch of multiple short-range ballistic missiles into waters east of the Korean peninsula, marking its first major weapons test since July.
During his inspection, Kim urged nuclear scientists to faithfully implement the Party’s policy of strengthening the country’s nuclear force. He emphasized the need to expand defense capabilities and capabilities for a preemptive nuclear attack in response to escalating threats from the United States and its allies.
Despite ongoing denials of weapons trade with Russia, North Korea’s regime has been conducting numerous missile launches this year. Amid stalled diplomacy, North Korea has labeled South Korea as its “principal enemy” and deployed nuclear-capable weapons near border areas.
These recent developments underscore heightened tensions in the region, with Seoul’s Joint Chief of Staff confirming the missile test and Japan’s defense ministry also acknowledging the provocation. Kim oversaw the test-fire of a new 600mm multiple rocket launcher, demonstrating the regime’s commitment to advancing its military capabilities.
