Government urges consequences for fictional newspaper

In a dystopian future, the Underground Courier newspaper in Slovakia explores the terrifying scenarios if Russia were to attack the country. Led by journalist Tomas Forro, the paper raised funds on startlab.sk to distribute copies to donors and plans additional editions.

However, the government, led by Prime Minister Robert Fico, has criticized the paper as spreading lies and undermining trust in institutions. Gedra, a government official and close associate of Fico, called for “countermeasures” against the Underground Courier.

Fico’s government, known for its nationalist and anti-Western stance, has been accused of threatening national sovereignty. The Prime Minister has even discontinued military aid to Ukraine and maintained ties with Viktor Orban, who has shown support for Hungarian revisionism.

As tensions rise, journalist Tomas Forro warns of the dangers of political duplicity and the potential for open military violence in Slovakia. The Underground Courier suggests the country is already embroiled in a hybrid war.
