The Federal Government Inaugurates Committee on Salary Adjustments for Civil Servants
The Federal Government has taken a significant step towards improving the economic well-being of Nigerian workers by inaugurating the Committee on Consequential Adjustments in Salaries for civil servants. Led by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the committee was established to implement the provisions of the National Minimum Wage Act of 2024, which increased the national minimum wage from N30,000 to N70,000.
Comprising 16 members from the Federal Government and Trade Unions, the committee is tasked with negotiating and agreeing on consequential adjustments in salaries, as well as developing a template for the implementation of the approved minimum wage. In her opening remarks, Walson-Jack emphasized the importance of the committee’s assignment in maintaining industrial peace and harmony while working towards President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of lifting Nigerians out of poverty and creating prosperity.
With this inauguration, the Federal Government has shown its commitment to improving the economic well-being of Nigerian workers and enhancing productivity in the public service.
