The Federal Government is reaffirming its commitment to supporting victims of flooding and insecurity in Nigeria. Vice President Kashim Shettima visited an IDP camp in Niger State to assure residents of continued assistance. The government has already disbursed funds to address flooding issues and is planning additional relief for severely affected states like Borno, Niger, Sokoto, Bayelsa, and Jigawa.
The VP emphasized that support will be evidence-driven and based on detailed assessments of needs. He also highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s infrastructure initiatives, such as the East-West Road and Sokoto-Badagry Road, as signs of commitment to national development.
Shettima assured that returning IDPs to their communities is a priority, with ongoing collaboration between the federal and state governments and NEMA. The visit aimed to show solidarity with the state during challenging times, with attendees including representatives from the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Ministers, and NEMA officials.
