DA expels suspended MP Renaldo Gouws for ‘racist rants’

The DA’s federal executive has unanimously decided to revoke suspended MP Renaldo Gouws’ party membership. Gouws was suspended in June for making “racist rants” on social media shortly after being sworn in. The party confirmed the authenticity of the video, where Gouws used offensive language, dispelling initial doubts of its validity.

DA spokesperson Willie Aucamp announced on Friday that Gouws had been notified of his expulsion, resulting in the forfeiture of his parliamentary seat. A thorough investigation by the DA’s federal legal commission found Gouws guilty of violating the party’s constitution.

Aucamp reaffirmed the party’s commitment to its principles of accountability, nonracialism, and respect for all South Africans. The DA’s stance demonstrates its unwavering dedication to upholding these core values.
