In a major leap forward in military modernization, Mexico has acquired 340 Cobra 4 Light Armored Multipurpose Vehicles from Streit Group, marking a crucial step towards upgrading its defense capabilities. These vehicles will replace the aging Humvees, offering improved mobility, protection, and versatility for various military operations with a 3-liter V6 diesel engine and STANAG 4569 Level 2 ballistic protection.
The Cobra 4’s modular design allows for different configurations, accommodating up to eight passengers. This acquisition is part of a larger $655 million investment program, which includes purchasing high-mobility 4×4 vehicles and pickup trucks.

Mexico’s defense modernization is significant as the country faces complex security challenges, ranking 31st in the Global Firepower Index. With a defense budget of $7.7 billion for 2024, Mexico trails behind regional powers like Brazil and Colombia but is committed to strengthening its military strength.
