Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Calls for ‘New Democratic Charter’ to Unite Political Parties
Former Foreign Minister and Chairman of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, urged political parties to come together for a ‘New Democratic Charter’ during a press conference at the Parliament House. He emphasized the strengthening of the existing ‘Charter of Democracy’ and the importance of resolving parliamentary deadlock to address the country’s core issues.
Bilawal emphasized the government’s responsibility to tackle poverty and resource scarcity, supporting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s idea of a “Chartered Economy.” He called for constitutional amendments and stressed the need for all political stakeholders to be involved in crafting a national economic strategy for effective implementation.
While dismissing the Chief Justice of Pakistan’s tenure extension as an individual matter, Bilawal highlighted Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s role in the opposition and emphasized the positive contributions necessary from him. The PPP leader clarified the party’s stance against Governor’s rule, proposing it only as a last resort in unavoidable situations.
