Team Ireland’s success at the Paris Olympics is being celebrated with two special events today. President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina hosted a reception at Áras an Uachtaráin this morning for the Irish medallists, athletes, and coaches, including gold medallists Rhys McClenaghan, Kellie Harrington, and Fintan McCarthy.
Another event is set to take place at Dublin Castle later, where the athletes will be joined by their friends, family, and coaches to acknowledge their achievements. Team Ireland had its most successful Olympic Games in Paris, bringing home seven medals, which has been cause for many celebrations.
Approximately 500 people will be attending the reception at Dublin Castle, including sponsors, Government ministers, and the Olympic Federation of Ireland. A gifting ceremony is also planned for the athletes, with a separate occasion expected to be hosted soon by the President to recognize Paralympic Games participants.
