In a recent visit to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir reaffirmed the determination of security forces to eradicate terrorism and maintain peace. Gen Munir commended the troops for their efforts in recent counter-terrorism operations in the Tirah Valley and surrounding areas, emphasizing the need to defeat hostile terrorist elements.
The COAS praised the sacrifices of the martyrs and highlighted the importance of maintaining peace at all costs. He emphasized the army’s support for the police and law enforcement agencies in KP and stressed the importance of capacity building for LEAs. Gen Munir also acknowledged the vital role of the local population in assisting security forces and sustaining peace in the region.
Pakistan has experienced a surge in terror activities, particularly in KP and Balochistan, following the end of the ceasefire with the TTP. Recent intelligence-based operations in the Tirah Valley resulted in significant blows to the militants, with key leader Abuzar alias Saddam among those killed. Despite the sacrifices made by soldiers, the security forces remain committed to eliminating terrorism and ensuring stability in the merged districts.
