According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 22,500 Palestinians have sustained life-changing injuries due to Israeli attacks in the last 11 months. This includes approximately 3,000 to 4,000 limb amputations, with a need for increased prosthetic services in the region.
The report also highlights the lack of specialized care in Gaza, as the health system has been systematically dismantled by Israel. The WHO warns of a surge in rehabilitation needs alongside the decimation of health services, putting patients at risk.
Despite the focus on the death toll, the analysis shows the lasting impact of Israel’s actions on the Palestinian population. Children are among the most vulnerable, with reports of more than 10 children a day losing limbs during the conflict. Estimates by the Gaza Ministry of Health suggest over 95,000 injuries and 41,000 deaths, with concerns raised about the true extent of the damage.
This report serves as a call for urgent intervention to address the dire healthcare situation in Gaza and to prevent further harm to the population.
