Wang Yi urges BRICS members to develop effective peace strategies

During the 14th meeting of the BRICS high-ranking officials responsible for security matters and national security advisors in St. Petersburg, Wang Yi, director of China’s Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, emphasized the importance of seeking sound strategies for peace and cooperation among BRICS countries.

With the world facing various security threats and challenges, Wang highlighted the significance of BRICS discussing ways to promote peace and security. He commended the collective efforts of BRICS in maintaining peace, promoting development, and enhancing global governance over the past 18 years.

Wang encouraged BRICS countries to maximize their impact by upholding independence, solidarity, and common development. He stressed the importance of cooperation in addressing core interests, safeguarding sovereignty, and contributing to world peace.

Participants at the meeting praised BRICS for its unique role and achievements, advocating for continued cooperation, opposition to unilateralism, and the promotion of a multipolar world order based on international law.

This meeting laid the groundwork for the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, with discussions focusing on global security threats, counterterrorism, cybersecurity, and global governance.
