More than 200 representatives from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s judiciary came together to celebrate the successful completion of the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Judiciary Against Corruption Activity (USAID/JACA). This initiative aimed to combat corruption within the judicial sector and train professionals to handle high-level corruption cases effectively.
Thanks to USAID/JACA, prosecutors and judges underwent specialized training programs, with 1,022 judicial officials completing an Ethics Course on integrity and conflict of interest prevention. The project also led to improvements in the judicial sector, with an increase in investigations and indictments in high-profile corruption cases.
While progress has been made, challenges persist. USAID remains committed to supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina in its fight against corruption and organized crime. A new program will focus on strengthening specialized institutions at various levels to continue the battle against corruption.
This collaborative effort between the U.S. and BiH demonstrates a shared commitment to upholding integrity within the judiciary and working towards a corruption-free future for the country. By tackling corruption head-on, both parties aim to pave the way for BiH’s advancement and European integration.
