UK set to exchange COP hosting, green energy expertise with Azerbaijan

The UK to Share Climate Change Experience with Azerbaijan Ahead of COP29

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. The UK is ready to share its extensive experience in hosting COP events and developing green energy with Azerbaijan, according to Nick Baker, Head of the UK Embassy Mission at COP29. Speaking at the International Forum on Sustainable Development and Climate Innovation organized by the British Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan (BCCA) in Baku, Baker highlighted the UK’s leadership in ‘green’ energy and the successful implementation of numerous green projects, including wind farms and solar power plants.

Baker emphasized the importance of collaboration between governments and businesses in achieving global climate goals. The UK’s focus on decarbonization by 2030 and achieving Net Zero by 2050 has set a strong example for other countries, including Azerbaijan.

With COP29 set to be held in Baku this November, Azerbaijan will welcome around 70-80,000 foreign guests. The event will serve as a platform for world leaders and delegations to negotiate long-term climate solutions.

Overall, the partnership between the UK and Azerbaijan in the lead-up to COP29 demonstrates a commitment to sustainable development and climate innovation on a global scale.
