A Joint Security Operation: Arresting IPoB Commander and Eliminating Boko Haram Fighters
In a groundbreaking operation, the Department of State Security Services collaborated with various security agencies to apprehend a high-ranking commander of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB) in Ebonyi State. This operation also resulted in the successful seizure of 37,000 barrels of stolen crude oil and the elimination of numerous Boko Haram fighters in Niger State.
The arrest of the IPoB commander was based on credible intelligence indicating his involvement in recruiting mercenaries for an imminent attack in Ebonyi State and other parts of the South East region. During the operation, the security team recovered dangerous weapons and ammunition from the apprehended IPoB fighter.
Additionally, in a separate operation in Niger State, security forces took down Boko Haram terrorists and bandits who had attacked a village. While many of the assailants were neutralized, three civilians fell victim to the fleeing bandits. Furthermore, in a proactive move, the DSS intercepted a wooden barge carrying 37,000 barrels of crude oil and apprehended five suspects linked to the incident.
