Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesman, Mustapha Baitas, announced that more than 431,000 widows and 158,000 children in urban and rural areas have received direct social assistance through a royal program. This assistance, starting at a minimum of 500 dirhams, increases annually to eventually reach 400 dirhams per child by 2026.
Baitas highlighted the government’s efforts to streamline access to this aid through the Unified Social Register, ensuring that even non-custodial widows can benefit. Previously, the assistance ranged from 500 dirhams to 1,158 dirhams, offering a significant increase compared to the previous system.
He emphasized the gradual increase in aid over the years, aiming to reach 1,308 dirhams by 2026. The program has already reached 260,000 widows in rural areas and 171,000 in urban areas, benefiting a wide range of beneficiaries based on the number of children they have.
Overall, the royal program is making a significant difference in the lives of widows and their children, providing essential support and stability for those in need.
