The Odisha government has taken a significant step by approving a proposal to reserve 10% of jobs in the state’s uniform services for ex-Agniveers. This decision aims to provide opportunities for ex-Agniveers to secure jobs in various uniform services. The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also approved the transfer of equity shares to Adani Ports from Shapoorji Pallonji Port Maintenance Pvt Ltd and Odisha Stevedores Ltd.
In addition, the government approved the framing of Odisha Ex-Agniveers (Recruitment to Uniform Services) Rules, 2024, which will provide a 10% horizontal reservation for ex-Agniveers in Group C and D posts in direct recruitment in the uniform services of the state. This reservation will be over and above the reservation for ex-servicemen and will include age relaxation and exemption from physical efficiency tests.
Furthermore, the approval for the transfer of equity shares to Adani Ports in the Gopalpur Port project is expected to lead to its expansion, enabling it to handle multi-cargo and boost economic development in Odisha. The decision also included providing jobs to unmarried daughters and stepdaughters of government employees on compassionate grounds.
