Messages of support are pouring in for former minister Pravin Gordhan, who is gravely ill and in a hospital. Fake reports of his death were dismissed earlier on Thursday. The ANC secretary-general visited Gordhan in the hospital after being alerted by the family.
Fikile Mbalula condemned the insensitivity of those wishing death upon Gordhan and spreading fake news about his passing. He emphasized the importance of verifying information before sharing and urged for respect towards individuals and their families.
Mbalula praised Gordhan for his anti-corruption efforts and called for unity in celebrating those who fight against corruption. Despite controversies, Gordhan’s work has been crucial in the nation’s history.
Mbalula also highlighted the global respect for Gordhan’s work at SARS and wished him a speedy recovery. The ANC stands in support of Gordhan and continues its fight against corruption inspired by leaders like him.
