Malaysian authorities recently conducted raids on 20 charity homes and rescued over 400 children suspected of being sexually abused. Around 171 Islamic teachers and caretakers were arrested in connection to these allegations. The homes, run by Islamic business organizations possibly linked to a banned religious sect, were found to have subjected children as young as one to various forms of abuse, including molestation and maltreatment.
The rescued minors have been provided with necessary medical care and documentation as the case is being investigated under laws pertaining to sexual offences against children and human trafficking. Noteworthy is the increase in reported cases of child sexual crimes in Malaysia, with rape cases showing the highest surge.
This disturbing revelation sheds light on the harrowing experiences faced by vulnerable children at the hands of their supposed caregivers, prompting authorities to take immediate action. The alleged involvement of a conglomerate with ties to a banned sect underscores the need for stringent measures to prevent such heinous acts from recurring.
